EM was convicted of offences against his children. Originally their mother was also convicted but they then retracted allegations agatinst the mother. The three complainants later retracted all their allegations, saying they had been put under pressure by social services who had fabricated evidence. The Court of Appeal concluded it was impossible to know whether the original statement was true or the retraction was true, and therefore the conviction was unsafe.
