Sirfraze Ahmed was convicted of robbery after Neil Bateman was ambushed and overpowered by three men in masks outside his home. £30,000 was taken. Detectives found fingerprints of Ahmed on a black plastic bag used as a hood and left at the scene. On appeal, it was found the jury should have been told there was a high chance Ahmed had touched the bag while it was in his car workshop. This evidence was not presented to the jury. As a result, the conviction was found to be unsafe.
