Year conviction was overturned:
2007

Mohammed Osman was convicted in 1993 of conspiring to import 10kg of heroin into the UK and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The case involved a controlled delivery using a participating informant, Asif, who played an active role in the drug operation. At trial, Asif falsely claimed he had no prior drug involvement, but undisclosed records later showed he had arranged other controlled deliveries. The Crown later admitted this non-disclosure could have affected the jury’s verdict, making the conviction unsafe. In 2006, the Crown conceded the appeal, leading to Osman’s conviction being quashed.
