2003

Michael Ray Thomas was arrested as part of an armed raid on a bookmakers. During the raid the appellant was found inside and was arrested. He argued it was not him as he had only gone to look at odds for a football match. On appeal, the conviction was quashed due to the heavy reliance of the prosecution case on evidence from police officers (who gave evidence of what they had seen during the course of the robbery) who had been found to be corrupt.
