Christy Walsh was convicted of possession of an explosive substance with intent. He was arrested when a soldier asked him to take his hands out of his pockets and (according to the soldier) found a coffee jar bomb in his hand. On appeal, the soldier’s evidence was drawn into question due to inconsistencies. In addition there were questions raised about the reliability of fingerprint evidence used in the case and problems with disclosure in the case. As a result the conviction was quashed.
