Amilton-Nicolas Bento was convicted of the murder ot his girlfriend, Kamila Gartszka. At trial, expert evidence was introduced to suggest that CCTV footage indicated Gartszka was walking with a bag over her sholder on the night of the murder and that this bag was found in Bento’s appartment. On appeal, evidence from forensic experts suggested Gartszka had not been carrying the bag, and what had been seen was a shadow on the film. As a result, the conviction was quashed.
