Mohammed Khalid Shahzad and Mohammed Latif were convicted in 1991 for attempting to import 19.8kg of heroin into the UK. Shahzad and Latif were recorded in incriminating conversations in a London hotel, where they were arrested after receiving dummied-up drugs. They were sentenced to 20 and 16 years, respectively. At the Court of Appeal, the convictions were overturned on the basis of non-disclosure of material.
