Case Study
Child B
2 September 2021
Child B was 13 when he decided he wanted to plead guilty to an offence that he said he did not commit. His story was told to us by his lawyer:
“He was adamant, absolutely adamant, he was not involved. He suffers from autism and ADHD. So there was a real range of learning difficulties. But at the first appearance he said I want to plead guilty. ‘Why do you want to plead guilty?’ ‘Cause I don’t want to come back here. This is very stressful. This is very long.”
